Why it matters

A good website needs looking after.

Websites are not finished objects. They sit on software that changes, on servers that need attention, and they describe a business that keeps moving.

  • Software stays current

Whatever your site runs on gets updated over time. Keeping up with that avoids awkward problems later.

  • Backups exist

A recent backup turns a mistake or a failed update into an inconvenience rather than a rebuild.

  • Someone notices downtime

If the site goes offline, it is better that we hear about it before your customers do.

  • Forms keep working

Contact forms quietly stop delivering and links go stale. Both cost you enquiries without anyone noticing.

  • Content keeps up

Prices, opening hours and staff details change. The website should reflect the business as it is now.

  • Renewals get handled

Certificates and domains expire. They are easy to forget and inconvenient when they lapse.

  • Pages stay quick

Sites get heavier as content is added. Occasional tidying keeps them loading properly.

  • Things stay compatible

Browsers and devices move on. What worked last year benefits from an occasional check.

  • There is someone to ask

When something looks wrong, it helps to ask someone who already knows how the site is built.

What a care plan does not cover

None of this is off-limits — it is simply quoted separately as project work, so you always know what you are paying for.

  • Major redesign or rebuild work
  • New pages or large new sections
  • Bespoke new functionality
  • Ecommerce catalogue management
  • Large copywriting projects
  • Paid advertising campaigns
  • Ongoing SEO campaigns
  • Third-party software or licence fees

Plans are billed monthly. Exact terms, including notice periods, are confirmed in writing before service begins.

Continuity

We’re still here after launch.

You should not have to become your own technical department once the site goes live.

  • One point of contact

You deal with the same people who built or took on the site, not a rotating queue.

  • We already know the build

No one has to reverse-engineer your website before they can help with it.

  • Practical answers

Plain explanations of what has happened and what we are doing about it.

  • No handovers

Nothing gets passed between teams or lost in translation along the way.

  • Continuity as it grows

As the site changes, the support carries on rather than starting again each time.

  • Optional, not obligatory

If you would rather manage the site yourself, that is genuinely fine.

Hosting quality

Hosting set up properly, not just cheaply.

Hosting is the part nobody sees until it goes wrong. It is worth having it configured with some thought rather than left on defaults.

We do not publish an uptime percentage or offer a formal service level agreement. If your business needs contractual guarantees, tell us and we will discuss what is realistic rather than quoting a number we cannot stand behind.

  • Modern, managed hosting environment
  • HTTPS across every page
  • Sensible caching configuration
  • Image and asset optimisation
  • Uptime monitoring
  • Regular backups kept off the live server
  • Performance-conscious setup rather than defaults

Security

Good maintenance reduces avoidable risk.

Most website problems are not dramatic attacks. They are out-of-date software, expired certificates and small things left unattended for too long.

No website can be made completely secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. What sensible maintenance does is remove the avoidable risks and make recovery quick and undramatic if something does go wrong.

  • Keeping software and dependencies current
  • Secure configuration rather than defaults
  • SSL certificates kept valid and renewed
  • Regular backups so recovery is straightforward
  • Monitoring so problems get noticed
  • Access controls where they are relevant

Content updates

Small changes, and everything larger.

The line between the two is the main difference between Care and Care+, so it is worth being clear about it.

Minor updates

Included with Care+, within an agreed monthly scope.

  • Changing text on an existing page
  • Swapping an image
  • Updating contact details or opening hours
  • Adding a small content item
  • Correcting out-of-date information

Larger work

Quoted separately as a project, on any plan.

  • New page templates
  • Rebuilding or restructuring a page
  • New integrations
  • Booking or ecommerce functionality
  • Navigation or structural changes

Who it’s for

Built for businesses that would rather not think about it.

Care plans are optional. If you would rather host and maintain the website yourself, that is completely fine and we will help you get set up to do that.

  • Businesses without in-house technical staff
  • Anyone who would rather one supplier looked after the website
  • Businesses that prefer a predictable monthly cost
  • Clients who want help from someone already familiar with the build
  • People who would rather not deal with hosting, updates and renewals

Existing websites

Already have a website?

Hosting & Care is not limited to websites we built. In many cases we can take over hosting and support for a site someone else made.

Ask about taking over my site

What we look at first

Taking on someone else’s build is subject to a technical review of the existing website and platform. That review is how we work out whether we can genuinely support it, and we will tell you honestly if we cannot.

We plan migrations carefully to minimise disruption. We will not promise zero downtime in every case, but you will know what to expect before anything moves.

  • Where the site is currently hosted
  • Domain and DNS access
  • Any email that depends on the current setup
  • The platform the site is built on
  • SSL certificates and renewals
  • Existing backups and what can be carried over
  • Timing, so any switchover happens sensibly

Questions

Hosting and care questions.

Where something has not been finalised commercially, we say so rather than guessing.

Ask a question
Do I need a care plan?

No. Care plans are entirely optional and plenty of clients manage their own hosting and updates. They exist for businesses that would rather not think about it.

Can I host my website somewhere else?

Yes. You are free to host wherever you like, and we will hand over what you need to do that. If you host elsewhere we can still help on a project basis when something comes up.

What happens if my website goes down?

Uptime monitoring means we are alerted rather than waiting for you to notice. We investigate and get the site back as quickly as we can. We do not publish a guaranteed response time — if you need one contractually, tell us and we will discuss what is realistic.

Are backups included?

Yes, on both plans. Regular backups are taken and kept off the live server, so a mistake or a failed update can be rolled back rather than rebuilt from scratch.

Can you update my website for me?

Yes. Minor content updates are included with Care+. On the Care plan we can still make changes for you, quoted as small pieces of work.

What counts as a minor content change?

Editing text on an existing page, swapping an image, updating contact details or opening hours, or adding a small content item. Building new page templates or adding functionality is project work, quoted separately.

Can you take over hosting for an existing website?

Often, yes — it is not limited to sites we built. It depends on how the site is put together and where it currently lives, so we start with a technical review before committing either way.

Can I cancel a care plan?

Yes. Exact notice periods and terms will be confirmed in writing before service begins, so you know where you stand before you commit to anything.

Are domain names included?

Domain registration and renewal fees are separate from the plan price. We can help you manage your domain, and exactly how that is handled will be confirmed before service begins.

Is email hosting included?

Email is not included as standard. If you need it, tell us what you use now and we will confirm what we are able to support before service begins.

Beyond maintenance

Need more than support?

If your website needs more than maintenance, we can also redesign or rebuild it. Care plans work alongside either.
